The Illustrated Interview
For the first class, I assigned a preliminary exercise to help students engage with the course material in a creative and personal way. The task required them to respond to 12 questions using illustrations, encouraging visual expression rather than written answers. This approach serves as an icebreaker. This exercise also helps me, as an instructor, gain insights into their individual styles, creative problem-solving approaches, and visual language. Ultimately, this task sets the tone for the course, emphasizing experimentation, observation, and the power of non-verbal storytelling.
