Personality Barrier

This project uses the method of linking to let the audience experience and reflect on the process of labelling abuse brought about by personality tests.

The first part focuses on analysing the misuse of labelling in modern society and the various effects that come with it. It also analyses and demonstrates the causes and processes that lead to social personality barriers.

The second section, is for bookmarks. In this section, the audience can choose bookmarks that correspond to their own personalities for later use.

The third section is an interactive section. Viewers can choose different personality types to complete the connect-the-dots game and earn red lines.

The fourth section focuses on showing the combination of personality barriers and presenting the scale and impact of personality barriers in different expressions and materials.

People with different personality labels need to find their own bookmarks, tear them off and use them as they use the publications.

Each bookmark boasts five red lines, with adjusted lengths based on the percentage of traits I've collected from personalities on the web.

The bookmarks contain a percentage of stereotypical personality labels, while the publications are reflective and critical of the misuse of personality labels. With the resulting content of the audience's own personality labels and reflective personality labels being read by the audience at the same time, I think this conflicting content inspires the audience to reflect on the misuse of labelling.

I set the red line at the top of the bookmark, a metaphor for connection and communication, but it was cut off, implying that the presence of personality labels breaks people's communication.

Each poster shows a personality.

I believe that each poster should display the personality traits of what the public considers to be a personality. That's why I used the words that define different personalities on the internet to create the design.

After that, the images in the layout I used the cover of outcome 1 as a visual element. This image represents me, and I cut it into 16 parts, so that each poster has one of the 16 images, which is a metaphor for the fact that each personality is a part of "me".

Finally, I overlaid the red lines derived from outcome 1 over the defining words. I hope to eventually break down these visual elements by deconstructing them, culminating in a recreated poster with a red randomised web and text.
